With the implementation of large-scale mass production,the development of the sodium-ion battery（SIB）industry is expected to replicate the rapid development path of lithium-ion batteries.Overall,90%of the process of sodium-ion batteries is roughly the same as that of lithium-ion batteries,so its large-scale application will not face too many challenges in the future.On the contrary,due to its high stability and low cost,sodium-ion batteries are even expected to become one of the mainstream power sources in fields such as electric vehicles in the near future.

As people's urgent demand for high-performance and low-cost battery technology becomes increasingly apparent,sodium-ion batteries,as a storage technology with obvious advantages such as short charging time,low cost,and recycle ability,are becoming more and more popular in the market.China sodium-ion battery field has continued the high prosperity in 2023,with constant news about installations,orders,cooperation,and project start signings.

In the author's opinion,relevant companies have vigorously carried out the industrialization layout of sodium-ion batteries,which may be due to two factors.First,in order to get rid of dependence on overseas lithium resources,so that future energy security issues will no longer be controlled by“lithium”.According to statistics,from a global perspective,about 70%of lithium resources are distributed in South America,and China's lithium resources only account for 6%of the world's lithium resources.On the other hand,it is to seize the market faster in order to gain"first-mover advantage."At present,the sodium-ion battery industry chain is gradually improving,the technology maturity is also relatively high,and it has initially met the conditions for large-scale development.

However,there are also opinions that:"At this stage,the industrial development of sodium batteries is no longer completely dependent on the rise in lithium prices,and is gradually'decoupled'from the high price of lithum carbonate.And based on recent corporate actions,companies have not been affected by the decline in lithium prices.Na-ion batteries could replace a large number of lead-acid batteries,and they can"annex"a considerable part of the lithium battery market.

Since the beginning of this year,China sodium-ion battery industry has been experiencing frequent benefits.In addition,the prototypes of various supporting links have emerged.It is expected that the development of sodium-ion batteries will show a rapid development trend this year,and part of the low-end lithium battery market is expected to be replaced by sodium batteries.
